Guidelines For Responding To Public Readings

For your responses to a reading, I would like you to consider any of a number of the following questions:

1. What connections do you make between what the author read and your own work?
2. If you’re familiar with their work on the page, can you talk about differences between the two experiences of encountering the work (written v. oral)?
3. Did you learn anything about the way the author confronts problems in their stories/poems/essays?
4. What were some things that you found useful in the author’s work?
5. Did the author say anything about their process during the Q & A that you found particularly interesting?

Feel free to write about anything else about your experience of the reading that strikes you.

These responses should be at least 300 words.
